Fallout*Qt

So I guess this is kind of my first official announcement around Fallout*Qt and the future of Fallout*VE applications. First up Fallout*VE will not continue to be actively developed, updated or supported. Now before you go getting all in a huff, realize that Fallout*Qt will take it’s place as I still feel there is a need for a good Fallout savegame editing tool.

So just what is Fallout*Qt? Gald you asked, Fallout*Qt is a Fallout savegame editing tool that is written in a language I actually know!  C++, where as the current Fallou*VE series was written in C# a language I knew nothing about before I started this endeavor, in fact that was one of the reasons I wrote it in C# as I wanted to try it out. However after doing so I was kind of bound to the Windows platform. Now that I’ve gone back to C++ I’ve created Fallout*Qt for Windows, Linux and Mac.

As the development continues the Fallout*Qt series proves to be just a simple to use with all the same payout, and even more stability and functionality with the added niceness of cross-platform usability.

  2. alex says:

    when will you release it?

  3. synmuffin says:

    When it’s done.

  4. David says:

So what does Qt stand for?

  5. synmuffin says:

Qt simply refers to the cross-platform application and UI framework that it’s built on.

  6. Woody says:

i love your fallout VEs. have you ever considered making a Oblivion VE? its an old game but everyone that i know who liked it when it came out still loves it today.
Also on a totally different note… could you think about adding the option to edit your running speed and jumping height for at least Fallout NV if not both fallouts? i’m sure there are plenty of fans who would love to be able to run like Flash Gordon or Sonic the Hedgehog. just a though. =)

  7. David says:

Okay, and i love the VEs i used to use FO3 one but lost the program and the files and could not remember site, but when i got NV today i decided i should feed my Cheating Addiction and get VE for NV :D

  8. Mitch says:

I’ve been keeping up with the New Vegas VE program after my friend got me into it and was ecstatic after you added support for the Dead Money items. However, I’ve been having trouble with editing in the Trenchcoat and the Mysterious Stranger outfit. Are these just buggy to begin with or does replacing certain items cause a game crash? I’ve noticed this when overriding the Bright Brotherhood Robe. Anyway, I just thought I’d just seek some help while saying thanks. I’m glad you update the VE as frequently as you do and that you’ve taken the QT step (my brother’s been envious of my 360 since I showed him NVVE.)

    • synmuffin says:

@Mitch, tbh I’m not 100% sure but items that were never intended for player use could for sure cause issues. I’m going to check this out for myself and get back to you. – thx

Hey Synmuffin I had a quick question, I came across a save that someone had made and released it on his website. It had Every armor and weapon and even weapons that are from fallout 3 and armor as well, for Example Mayor MCcreadys outfit from fallout 3.
I was wondering could you add items like that with the editor? and the save also had a custom safe house. It was the good springs school house totally redone fixed up and added some NPC’s in it as well as a npc that allowed reputation editing and what ending you want. I was wondering how he did that and how did it work? could you do that with the VE? If you want the save its at powerpunchers.net you gotta sign up and go to forums you’ll figure it out from there

    • synmuffin says:

      @Mike.P,

There are several ways to go about doing this, one way would be use FalloutNVVE and add said items to your inventory and drop (place) them appropriately. This is not to bad for simply weapons and npc’s etc.. however there is a much simpler / faster way to do it and thats get a pc version and use the game’s console to edit it, once you’ve edited it save the pc game and convert it to an XBOX 360 version.

There is also the G.E.C.K. that allows you to do things like this again for PC only, but saves can be ported to the XBOX 360.

I noticed something on FONV Ve is that the database button between Close File and Import PC to Xbox360 it says “Load searchable Fallout 3 Item Database.” but it is on NV VE. And i wanted to let you know. In case you wanted to Fix it. I know its not much but a simple typo and wanted you yo know.

  11. kyle says:

whenever i try to download this it half completes then it quits out on me

  12. Jason says:

@kyle, in my experience that is usually the sign of a virus or just bad internet.

@synmuffin, I cannot believe you have not played Oblivion. :P I hope you try Skyrim when it’s released! Anyways glad your back making epic tools.

  13. Eddie says:

hey i need help everytime i use the falloutnv VE when i save the file an i try to rehash and resign it says error loading keyvault data please help

  14. David says:

I found a bug, (I would call it that) on the data valu list for Jalapeño Pepper item it has a Weird symbol in stead of ñ.

  15. Zudy says:

will it be released for only Xbox or PS3 and Xbox cause i cant seem to find any mods on ps3 for fallout NV well i do find a couple but it requires a jailbreak witch is illegal and i could get sued. so if its only for Xbox can you try and make one for ps3.

  16. Joe says:

btw wanted to ask if i edit an items condition to say 9999 the game seems to crash doe this happen to anyone else?

  17. awesome says:

i was wondering is possible to add for a example something like a tree or table something or big but add it ot your inventory and be able to drop it iv seen fo3 saves where i can drop trees and on fonv when i add npcs they never seem to pop up in my inventory only a few times they have but keep up the good work cant wait for the next update and if couldi dont know if this is possible if you can add like fallout3 items to your nv inventory thxs.

  18. Sippyfrog says:

Hey, has anyone every thought that it would be cool if ther was an addtion to Fallout*Qt or Fallout*VE or an external app that let you take mods that where intended for the PC, to be changed, compressed, and re-written into an .esm file so it can be added as a DLC into our fallout game saves and so we could have sweet weapons or armors like M4 carbines, or US Marine armor an such. (hint hint synmuffin you should look into being the first to do this, it would be a hit INSTANTLY WORLD-WIDE, as long as its possible, which im not entirely sure is)

  19. Sippyfrog says:

Oh, and another question, if you use GECK for PC Fallout and install mods, will a converted save (that you do with Fallout*VE) to xbox 360 have the mods in the inventory or in the game?

  20. abbo77 says:

when I open it it say that it is unhandled what should i do ?

  21. Ralphy says:

Will this work for Fallout 3 aswell? Or just NV?

  22. bob says:

So just how long will it be before we get a chanch to try QT for ourselfs? I mean it looks so much better than VE and i cant wait to get a chance to give it a go.

  23. abbo77 says:

do not worry your self synmuffin but when can we expect fallout QT to be released

  24. Ernesto X says:

Your fallout programs are the best, keep up the work.

  25. d says:

when i load my game, modded, my character just falls on the ground and does not get up what should i do???????????
