Fallout3VE and FalloutNVVE are simple visual editors for Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas alike. They were born out of my curiosity and love for puzzles.
The .fos (.fxs in XBOX 360′s case) file have little to zero documentation so it was an interesting fight / discovery every step of the way, and despite Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas using the same game engine etc… they use it in very different ways.

I open a save in the new vegas tool then click max special save then i resign and rehash but my special is still the save as it was before i edited it. i reinstalled my game to my 360 hard drive and the update and redownloaded my dead money. One last question if u dont mind. when i fire the minigun and let go the sound of it firing continues then stops then continues it does this untill i equip a differnt weapon.it
Your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats are known not to change in older saves.
As for the minigun thing I have no clue?! I’ve never heard of that error or even seen it.
So there’s no fix for the S.P.E.C.I.A.L.? o: How ’bout for the Survival skill, when you click max skill, it doesn’t go max.
Well there is no real fix cause its not really broken. If you change the special stats in an older game save they will update in the savefile correctly and read into the game correctly they will just simply never change. As it was never really intended to change that way so the game (at a later point) never really forces a re-read of the S.P.E.c.I.A.L. stats.
Some people have reported going back to the starting point and leaving again after changing the stats have worked, but I’ve never verified this.

Just got to say these editors are awesome thanks man.
Every time I load the game save onto FalloutNVVE, it pops up an error and says “Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this erro and attempt to continue.If you click quit, the application will close immediately.
Could not find a part of the path.”
And if I just hit continue, than it doesn’t do anything. It just sits there without loading my stats or anything. How can I get past this? I have tried to find whats making it do this. But haven’t had any luck. And I have tried using different saves from early in the game, and later in the game. I have tried using Modio and all kinds of other programs to extract the save. But that has not made a difference. I have also downloaded FalloutNVVE many different times. But so far. Nothing has worked. Can you please help me? If so, than thank you very much. (:
@Jarad My guess would be your either trying to run the .exe from within the .rar itself or you’ve only extracted it and not the itemdb/ folder.
Step 1: Download FalloutNV VE v3.3
Step 2: Extract the ENTIRE FOLDER to your desktop
Step 3: From within that extracted folder run the .exe
Step 4: WIN!

I re-upped the un-modded version
I answered you on game-tuts, I’m not sure whats up man i would suggest deleting whatever version you have and re-downloaded FalloutNVVE as I was able to open, edit, save and play your save game just fine.
So i tryed making a new gave save and modding my special but it keeps freezing when its loading and i tryed to mod my special on my lvl 31 save but it also freezese as well. And i was just wondering if you had a fresh level one save and like 500000 WG and maxed out special and still at the very begining at doc michelle door.
@mallian please upload a copy of you save file somewhere so I can take a look and see if I can spot the issue.

Hey i love this program but i have a PROBLEM
Whenever i load my save, my inventory is not fully loaded.
Sometimes my weapons are there and my ammo is not,

1.) Is it possible to give weapons/armor unlimited condition while still keeping legit damage/damage threshold?
2.)How can I increase my carrywieght? I believe that “WG:” in “Other Stats” raises it, but i keep receiving Corrupted files… any idea? Thanks in advanced!

2) WG stat should do just that, please make sure you are using version 3.6 and try it again.

Hey, great mod tool. but my concern is with the newest version 4.0… when bringing up a save in 4.0 alot of the inventory nulls out (Base ID’s are all 0) do you know the cause of this? When switching back to the 3.0 Beta it works fine, so the problem appears to be in the newest version.

Umm, problem. I changed the 357. magnum in my inventory to an anti materiel rifle, rhis proceeded to give everyone in goodsprings an anti materiel rifle instead of a 357. magnum as well. help.

There is currently no “set limit” but as for the in game limit I’m really not sure. Just play around with values

Hey syn for some reason every time i open the editor all the values are like -203466078 and when i reset them all to 0 and change the ones i want it doesnt work when i load the file it still says my health, weight, ap, and my stats and special are all 0 or in the -203607084 range. everytime i load a save the save has really low stats everything is -20000000000 whats wrong?
This is a bug with the OWB addon. Remove that dlc for the time being if you want to edit.
ok I am really new at this. I don’t know why it doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve copied the saved game onto a USB flash drive from my 360. Then after I take it out and plug it into my computer. And I can’t see the game file on the USB. It doesn’t say anything is there even when I try to load it from the falloutNV VE program. What am I doing wrong?

I recently went back to Fallout 3 and by the time I was in Megaton I was bored , So I modded a save and just went around in Chinese Stealth Armor and a Sniper Rifle and shot everybody . Unlimited Ammo + Sneaking + Sniper Rifle = Super Awesome Mega Play Time!
Do I need a rar program to open the file? Or what do I need to open the file? Because it tells me I need a rar program to do so. Please help me with detail because I’m slow ass fuck.

i downloaded your tool and i got my saved game data from my xbox in a flash drive but the only way to open it on the tool is by putting in the desktop through modio and when i open it onto ur tool, it first says “are u currently using the pimp boy?” and ill say no and then it will say “When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

So I started a new game so I can play it on Hardcore mode, and I edited my charter with VE and I maxed out the specials and my stats and changed the other stats like wg ap etc, and I loaded my game, and my charcater just tipped over and he’s just laying there on the floor, what seems to be the problem? I tried almost everything. Is it because I changed something? And What’s player size? Or size?
Yes this is due to a OWB bug, I’m aware and working on a fix.
Oh and also I would like to add, that I have done these to my level 44 and I maxed out everything and changed the other stats and everything worked perfectly, that’s why I’m confused on why this isn’t working and my character tips over as I load the game since it didn’t do this to my other save.

When I start the program and try to open a file, it doesn’t show the file at all. I can’t even download any saves from Modio. It keeps giving me a strange error that claims the value of -500 is invalid. Do you know what’s causing it?

Hey Syn v4.1 works great but when i edited critical chance and throw distance it didn’t change. I tried it on different characters and nothing. Didn’t have any problems with anything else just those two things.

I’m on the 360 using this everytime i try to load my Modded Save the loading screen to it freezes
First off, great job! I used this app on one game and everything worked great! But I tried it again on a new save and my skills wont increase. In fact it reduced a bunch of them to 0. What I noticed was when I open the save it listed all my skills at a negative number -2,147,483,648 to be exact. S.P.E.C.I.A.L. worked fine, as did the inventory modding. Not sure what went wrong this time around. Any ideas? I’m using version 4.1
When i open a file in the new FalloutNV VE v4.1 it changes all of my stats, HP, Wg, ect…

there needs to be two things added for the next patch.
#1: a section for adding/removing perks
#2: a way to IMPORT items into your inventory instead of having to change the ID of items you have because that really fucks with the game.

also something like unlimited ammo, god mode, and super accuracy which could be a never-miss in VATS thing. i wouldnt necisarrily use them but im sure itd make everyone else pretty happy.

okay last one. keep in mind your “all weapns” and “all ammo” items dont actually have all weapons and ammo. i think this should be fixed. and one for weapon mods would be cool.

Hey Synmuffin, first of all I want to congratulate you for the new site and for the superb work on the Fallout 3 and NV save editing programs.
Everytime I try to export a Fallout 3 save from Xbox 360 to PC works fine, so I can modify the file by using the console commands on PC. The problem is when I import the save, I always get a box with the following message “Source array was not long enough. Check srcIndex and lenght, and the array’s lower bounds”.
No idea about how to solve this problem and get any converted save to work on Xbox360.
Please, would you or anybody that had the same problem on here give me a solution to fix this?

All of a sudden after finishing Honest Hearts whenever I try to open my save in the program it immediately crashes. Is this due to the DLC?
I’ve been using NVVE for a while now. I stopped using it after about a month and started playing a few other games.
I recently came back to it since the new add-on for New Vegas came out. But this time for some reason, when I used it, it corrupted my save. I did everything I usually did. Extracted the file, put it on the editor, save, rehash and resign then saved to my Flash drive. I tried it again on another save. It didn’t corrupt it, but my person fell to the ground and was stuck like a stone. All I could do was wait. I’m not sure if my version is out of date(Downloaded it in July) though. Can you please help?

I was reading above, and i have ALL of the DLC thus far, i removed OWB so that i could use the tool, i even did everything right (as far as i know). I heard nothing but good things and i REAAALLY wanna try your tool.

Quick question.
I’ve attempted lowering the level of my character in New Vegas, but it hasn’t done anything. The experience I now require to get to the next level is well over the standard amount, and I am trapped at my current level. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok so I’ve got this problem with Fallout:NV and so I had a modded guy on there with his special attributes all maxed out (( tbis is before I even new about the mod program)) and I just finished Lonesome Road and this box pops up sayin you get a free perk and it let’s you put one special point anywheres. and my problem is its already maxed out and I cant put it anywheres an I tried ur program and it never seema to work when I try and put my special points down to like 9 or 0 so that I can put it in there but it always ends up corrupt… any suggestions? ?

Synmuffin, I know you haven’t been answering questions very much lately but I am having some issues with my game saves that maybe you could help me with. First off, if I mod anything in my special or my skills, it seems that it it always corrupts my file. Also if I mod any more than 2 items in my inventory it corrupts it too. This is an Xbox 360 save, so I don’t know if that is my problem or not. Also I have all updates and no add on packages. If need be, I will post my un-modded and modded saves somewhere, maybe you could find some discrepancies Between the two that I could not.

hey, my inventory doesnt work correctly. the only two things that popped up are uk type(what is that?) Offsets of 003271B2, -1 quantity,condition,description unknown. theyre form ids are 00082671 and 0014AEDB. what are these? can i do anything to fix this,or is it a bug? (i was test-modding a friend’s and it all worked just fine..but not for me)

I downloaded some mods for xbox and there all winzip and RAR files i have both horizon and modio but cant load the files on either of them which is what broat me here but i cant open theses files either what can i do
i have modded my new vegas game save and with ones ive done b4 the either stay on loading screen and just keeps trying to load or freezes on loading screen and i did rehash and resign help plz ?
I’ve tried countless saves, and every time I changed anything in stats or inventory I’d get a corrupt save. I’ve tried all the standard things, re hash, resign, etc. nothing works. Any ideas anyone?

Okay I got this today and I load my gamesave on my flashdrive and when I try to edit it on the mod tool it says” unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error message and attempt to continue. If you quit, the application will close immediatly.”

I’ve clicked continue and nothing happens it just will sit there I don’t know how to fix this problem please help! . :/

First off your save editor is a great and useful tool! With that said, I am having problems using this great tool lool. The main problem I am having almost repeatitly is the fact that whenever I load the modified save, my character just falls flat on their face and then I cannot access my Pip-Boy or move at all. All of a sudden I have limb damage, and i’m guessing that the limb damage has crippled my whole body, and that is what’s keeping me from moving. Can you please help me out. I don’t usually need help with save editors, but this has got me loosing sleep.

Hey I love the Fallout*VEs… They are great. However I don’t understand the Size concept in NV VE v4.1, or at least thats the one I am using. It doesn’t seem to change my size it only makes my character collapse if the value is >1 and if its <1 e.g 0.5 or =0 my game never loads… What do I do?
Ok i have to say this is the best fnv and f03 mod tool ive used. youve done and excellent job. Oh and Chris, i fixed that problem by removing the patch and making a new save, the only downside is if you have any weapons from dlc they will dissapear. its easier if you start a new game. oh btw dont put your S.P.E.C.I.A.L to max as if you finish the Lonesome road dlc a prompt will show up saying that you can increase one of your special skills by 1 and you will be unable to proceed.

I love this! But I’m having a few frustrating problems. Everytime I leave goodspring at the beginning of the game and reach the rebuild part I can never seem to change my S.P.E.C.I.A.L after that part how can I solve this? I’m trying to do the double perk glitch also. Is there any other way I can get more perks? As I’ve tried adding perks in the inventory they never seem doesn’t work, please help me out.

Hey, im using Fallout3VE and i think its awesome, but recently ive been getting an error message every time i try to save my edited xbox save which preventes me from using the editor
Error Message: “Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. Package was not parsed correctly.”
I dont know how to fix or get around the eroor and its starting to annoy lol

I get some Handler error when I try to open my save on the Fallout 3 one. I even extracted and put into a folder and still get the same error…
I like what your doing since us console gamers don’t have console commands also I ran into a issue I edited the game so I can have 2500 rail way spikes and when I try to load the save I get a disk read error let me know if their a solution thanks
When i mod it my guy falls to the floor paralyzed and cant move or use pipboy. i don’t know if that’s because this is outdated and if so please update.
I feel like I am doing everything right but in the end I go to load the save on the xbox and the menu screen goes black with my hud visable but still in the menu screen. Any idea on what im doing wrong? (I couldn’t post this on “Help & Support” because it said “~ closed, for revamp.”)

So whenever i mod a save when i load it, the xp i have has been set to zero???? and like marked men wont attack me or the white legs at zion, i tried modding it to give myself the exact number of xp back that i lost and still at zero, all i tried to do was repair my legate helmet cause it cant be repaired. and i tried only loading a save to my computer and loading it into fonv ve, doing nothing, resigning it, and same issue. no xp, hostiles dont attack. HEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPP
How do u input the dlc items if u have the dlc on your save and Xbox. Tying to get a rare dlc weapon.
Hey, I’ve downloaded Fallout3VE, I open it with WinRaR then extract it to my desktop. I have usb xplorer also which works fine, i extract the save onto my desktop and then when I try open it with Fallout3VE it loads up and then it says ‘Fallout3VE has stopped working’ ‘A problem caused the programme to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available’ Then I have to close the programme. It has never worked, It’s always said this so I would really like some help on how to fix this
. I have done this exact thing on my brothers laptop and it works fine and i can edit my items. But this always pops up on my laptop. Any advice on what to do?
I also forgot to mention, The fallout New Vegas one works fine on my laptop, it’s just the Fallout3VE that does not work
When I try to use the Fallout New Vegas save editor, (the latest verson), after I install all the DLC’s, it makes my game act very weird. I open up the save, and before you know it, my character falls down, and when I try to control my character, (via the pip – boy), or any other movements, such as wallking and such, the character doesn’t respond.
I’d like to say I love the editors, even though they confused me at first. There are some issues I had when using both, however.
1)Fallout 3: I changed items in my inventory to be cut weapons, overpowered weapons/armor, and skill books. Everything that I replaced in my inventory was also changed everywhere [Point Lookout, Capital Wasteland, The Pitt]. I just was confused by this.
2) Fallout: New Vegas: The items and skills I changed don’t take effect. This is a recent problem I’ve had.
Nonetheless, very great work!
Oh and for anyone wanting more caps [provided you are level 20 or 30 w/Broken Steel] in Fallout 3, make a save in the Arlington Library with one pre-war book in your inventory, then use the FO3VE to change the quantity of that one book to as high as you want [1000+ for tons of caps], and talk to Scribe Yearling. Keep telling her “Take all the books I have,” as she only takes 99 at a time. Hope this helps somewhat.
Hey Synmuffin I having some trouble with your editor. I copy a save from my 360 to a thumb drive and then extract it from the thumb drive to my desktop with Horizon and then run FalloutNVVE, open my save and make all the changes that I want and save the file. I resign and rehash it by injecting the new file onto my thumb drive with Horizon and save. But every time I go back to play the game with the new mod save file it tells me that it’s corrupted. Am I doing something wrong, if you could please help it would be much appreciated.
